Sampling from populations is a very important part of Statistics. Statistics is the science of collecting, analzying, interpreting, and organizing data to make sense of a population of interest. It is important to know how to collect samples. It is also important to be able to design experiments in an unbiased manner.

In this section, we will look at the definition of statistics, the difference between populations and samples, the difference between parameters and statistics, and the different branches of statistics.The videos will also look at the different types of data. Qualitative (aka Categorical) data is data that can only be classified or is an attribute. Quantitative is data that can measured, counted, or that you can perform mathematical operations on.

It is also imperative that if you are using a sample that you are using a representative sample.
